I can't cry even when I feel like the tears are forming

Postby jabba3756 » Mon Dec 10, 2012 3:58 am

I can't cry even when I feel really depressed and I can feel myself frowning and I feel like self harming or just trying to kill myself. I can't cry even when I want to, when I feel the pain and I feel it in my eyes and in my stomach and in my chest and my whole body and my brain is telling me... "this is crap"...

Im so sorry for your current situation. Its something noone should ever ever have to experience. I feel like this a lot, its like the pain is so great your body becomes detached and numb to the emotions because of how deep the pain really is.

I hope things start to look a bit better for you in a few days. Just remember that we are always here, you are never alone in this

Thank you. It's wierd to miss the feeling of crying. Like, crying is painful, but not being able to cry is worse. I can feel the sadness inside, but it's like it's bottled up or something, and even on the inside, it's like I'm holding it in.

Aw, guys I'm sorry! I know exactly what you mean. I am in the same situation. I am sure it will get better, at least I hope! I'm sorry I don't have any good advice for you, but I just wanted to send my well wishes. Good luck <3

Yeah, and it usually takes a breaking point for the tears to appear.

Are you on antidepressants by any chance? I found they made crying next to impossible.
Blame it on me, but know that I won't regret one iota.

Yes, I am on anti depressants, but I have been for about four years, and this problem has only been this major in more recent times. I don't think they're linked. I think it might be because in the past I tended to stop myself from crying and tell myself it was weak (which was pretty much because of other peoples' ideas which I had internalized).

Either way, it might just be that I'm emotionally numb.

I haven't cried in years, since I was 8 I think. My dad used to yell at me for crying and would call me a baby and say crying is for babies and make fun of me. He's not a bad person, he just resorts to yelling and he's very controlling.

Last night I was close to crying, but all I could do was stare at the ceiling and feel bad...
