It really depends. Sometimes it makes mine worse while other times it makes it better and I almost feel more "normal". But, I will tell you that smoking marijuana during your teenage years makes it more likely not only for DPD to become worse, but to never fully go away. Your brain is still developing and marijuana can stunt that growth or make it grow abnormally.

I had severe dissociation after a really scary bad trip on really potent weed. It was so scary at first for months!

After a year I drank myself so wasted and smoked haze (really potent weed). And while I did not have a bad trip this time, it did get worse again. But, I'm used to it now. I'm used to being forgetful, I'm used to feeling slightly detached of the world around me, I'm used to be somewhat confused, I'm used to feel unreal, I'm used to feel like nothing is really real, I'm used to have moments where it's so damn hard to concentrate. I'm used to having my mind go blank in confusion.

And I accept this as my reality from now on. If you are willing to do the same, go for it. If not, are you sure you are willing to take the risk?

Hello to everyone here, I had DPD since 2003, but I'M I control of it.. I definitely don't recommend taking marijuana again.. It would certainly cause a relapse and could persist, now we all know here that its really isn't good.. So please don't take pot again.. quit it..

Seems likely. THC's one of those weird drugs that the more you have, the more it affects you, the opposite of a tolerance. It stays in the system for fairly long periods of time too, months iirc.
Anyways, if you still want to trying getting high, maybe do like half of what you normally would, see if that helps.

I feel like I'm withdrawn inwards rather than outwards, I have many schizoid traits. One of my few experiences with pot was an 'aha' moment of being able to observe my own words without having 'me' to be mixed in there with it, and I blew my mind with the connection that my utter lack of knowing how people perceive me is an autism spectrum disorder trait that I thought I didn't possess.

I don't know what will happen. I just know I took only four puffs of a joint three months ago thinking "It'll be fine. At worst I'll have a bad trip and then I'll know not to do it again but I'll be better the next day."

I wasn't better the next day. Nor the day after the next. I have never regretted a decision as much in my life as the one I made that day.

sorry i know this is kind of old. but you were saying how you spent most of your day with anxiety over getting another attack... that is actually something that can trigger an attack beacuse often depersonalization/ derealization is a way your body "protects" you from stress in a way. It is a common problem that many people have. Hopefully by now it has gone away for you, but if not try to change the way you think. Though it sounds difficult and may not work immideatly, try not to stress about it happening again and dont get worried when it does happen. Your body can learn to react that way to stress so try to unlearn it. hopefully this helps. I have had it happen to me before but it only lasted a day. I can see how it can be terriable if it lasts a long time. good luck

Depends on the cause of your DPD.

Mine is a combination of PTSD & DID as a result of MMC. Smoking had always helped me to stay detached & avoid triggering or even thinking about the trauma.

Once I stopped smoking I had some pretty major episodes, but not as a result of 'withdrawals' or 'use' but as a result of losing my crutches to disassociate.

I refused to start again because I want to get better. Only way to do that is by processing the roots & that can't be done (for me) while smoking.

I hope that makes some sense. Quitting FOR GOOD has been quite liberating, however I now have medication to deal with the symptoms.

Have you considered discussing your options with your doctor? My doctor has been my number 1 supporter.

Everyone has their own level of sensitivity to cannabis, you've gotta find yours, for that reason I never use bongs and tend to just take small tokes from a pipe until I'm found my comfort spot.

It's not the THC that causes the DP, it's the intense panic that may come with it. Just so long as you keep it in that comfort spot you should be alright. Wait about 10 minutes in between hits...

Idk if this is of any hep but

weed or drugs did not cause my DP in thr first place just to leave it clear

I still suffer from DP 24/7 and ironically Sativas make me feel better and my mind less foggy sharper than Indicas, indicas make me feel more confused and DP'd. Where I live pot is legal and bud is way too hard for me, so I vape on a glass vaporizer a tiny bit of weed and it's ok, I thinkt he problem is having too much and then you are tripping to hard on it and panicking. I think it might have to do with mental set because I can smoke a sativa weed to calm down from panic attacks and it's better than Xanax for me.

I dont see any significant changes to my dp, but my advice is, don't be afraid of DP, try to take it easy and not panic
