Is my friend suffering from a Dependent Personality Disorder?
She lives alone in a studio apartment, but doesn't go out to mingle with people and has a liking for a married man with 2 kids. She likes him because she thinks he takes care of his kids and is independent. Somewhere deep down she expects him to take care of her too, but he cannot devote much time to her because he is married and has many responsibilities. She cries when she does not get attention from this man and feels abandoned and that no one cares for her. She thinks about him a lot, the time that they spent. She is scared and does not like approaching other people for help or friendship.
She is in a long distance relationship of 3 years though.
She has difficulty recalling things. She was suffering from depression and anxiety. Is on escitalopram 5 mg for the same. She is quite young (will be 28 this month).
She was in DBT for a while but had difficulty managing and doing homework on her own due to not being able to devote the time to it. Maybe if someone helped her with the homework, she could've done it successfully. She dropped out of the DBT.
Could this be dependent personality disorder?
Will CBT/DBT help in this case? Any other help resources other than therapy?
