Metabolic dementia

Postby Minihub67 » Mon Jul 14, 2014 12:09 am

Hello all.

I'm new to the forum.

I am not sure if anyone can respond to my question or not, but felt its worth a shot.

My mother (age 72) has been declining in the past year. She has always avoided doctors with the exception of an endocrinologist due to her (and myself and sisters) hypothyroidism. The last five years her endo has been concerned about her high calcium levels. He has told her she needs to get her parathyroid glands out.

I have recently found out that I have MTHFR gene mutations compound heterozygous, and I suspect perhaps she as we'll has one or two copies and may not be converting b-12 etc..

I am wondering if anyone has had a situation where these problems have caused dementia type symptoms.. And if they had some success getting them addressed.

I am working on getting her some help... Maybe getting the glands removed ASAP and checking her MTHFR situation.

Thanks

Doug
