How do you know you're delusional?

Postby brockovich4321 » Fri Aug 26, 2016 2:25 am

How did you find out you have DD?

I've been diagnosed with C-PTSD & MPD/DID.. These diagnoses are hard for me to accept. I guess because of my multiple perceptions & history distortions.. Sometimes these diagnosis make sense, other times I think I'm just delusional..

Could you share a bit about your DD please? A bit about your delusions? Are they about one thing in particular? Or about multiple things? Are you able to 'reality check' something's, but not othes? Do you suffer from mood disturbances?

I'm wondering wether my symptoms have been mistaken for PTSD, MPD/DID. When really it could just be the way DD is presenting in me.

Brockovich4321, trust the professionals you have consulted, and trust your diagnosis. Try it as an act of faith, even if you doubt. Faith is not about having no doubts.

Trained professionals listened carefully to your descriptions of your subjective experiences and they recognized what you describe is not a psychotic disorder, it is DID.

What are the odds that you are delusional and all your delusions so perfectly match DID not fictional movie portrayals of DID? Next to nil.

Finally, ruminating over this exact question is a typical symptom of DID.

Lol Una, you found me here too!

You are right that my DID is nothing like what I've seen on TV.. Maybe that's part of the problem. To me, I don't always see it or know that I've switched. Just feels like my perceptions, memories, awareness, wants & needs change so dramatically in a split second.

I still wonder how it is possible that one body can have so many different 'lives'..
