I Need Advice: Spouse Seems to Have DDJ

Postby NeedingAdvice » Tue May 17, 2016 7:44 pm

I am not normally the type to diagnose things from the Internet, but as this problem has been ongoing--well, off and on--for many years, I have a pretty clear pattern to refer to. Husband has been in therapy for years and is on medication, but the jealousy disorder rears its head every couple of months and has been simmering constantly for the past two years. Sometimes it is evident, most of the time not. Given how he was raised, really, it makes sense that he would have this disorder.

I have tried to gamely answer the interrogations, etc. Sometimes I just get fed up and mad, which he calls being defensive (although I'm being attacked constantly, so who wouldn't be?). We currently do not live in our home country, which complicates things for me considerably. As we have a child, I cannot just leave.

I know every situation is different, but is there any value in my telling him that I think he has DDJ, as opposed to the anxiety and general lack of trust that is well known to his therapist? I don't want to provoke another confrontation.
