So, delusions are the same thing as being psychotic?

Postby jazzi79 » Mon Jan 25, 2016 8:33 am

My dad thinks he has spiritual powers ie angels give messages to him through the radio. This is a delusion And/or symptom of being psychotic? He gets (or used to get) arrested alot when going into town becsuse of different ways he interprets reality that get him in trouble. Such as, he goes up to ATm to retrieve money, and debit card doesnt work. Will trigger paranoid episode that there is some conspiracy from some higher ups and they purposefully made this not work for him, he will either create impressive, elaborate ideas on why he cannot get to his money or get beligerant with bank workers there. So, is this psychotic, delusion, or both?

I am not as bad as he is, but enough gh to harm my life. Its like a curse.

Jazzi, delusions are often considered Psychotic symptoms. delusions are typically associated with Psychosis and Psychotic disorders such as Schizophrenia and Bipolar. it could go either way.
