Thoughts not coming from me

Postby Jaracove » Tue Sep 29, 2015 10:24 am

I've become aware of random thoughts popping into my mind from seemingly nowhere. They certainly do not originate from me; I do not place them there. They are never audible (I don't actually 'hear' voices), and very rarely do they seem to be of a personal nature (e.g. 'you must do this' or 'you are going to die' or 'you will fail').

They are not intrusive thoughts ("I'm going to knock that dog over in my car") and they are not automatic thoughts either ("My friend walked right passed me when I said hello - so he now hates me").

I can be sitting there doing nothing when suddenly "In the back.." or "Shoes" or when I was once driving home I had "When you get home..." just pop into my mind.

I do not put them there <--- Have to emphasise that

More to the point, I am not sure if God or an Angel or something is trying to communicate to me the future by sending me snippets of conversation I'll hear later on. For example, if I get "Barbara" pop into my head from nowhere and later that day I see, read, or hear the name Barbara, I get worried that someone is trying to communicate with me.

I'm even starting to get anxious because I am starting to think I might be receiving signs or messages from the radio :(. It's more complicated than what I've posted but that's the basics.

I've had this for about 5 years and it's really worrying me. My psychologist says I'm not schizophrenic or delusional but I'm not so sure. I've heard them called 'mind pops' but again, my nature is such that I am again unsure.

What is this!? :( Can anyone relate?

Hi Systemat

They happen whether I am stressed or relaxed. They might occur more if I'm stressed but I'm not sure; I've never really noticed.

I guess most of the time I don't notice them but I know they aren't intrusive thoughts because I have them too and they feel different.

With intrusive thoughts, I'll have a bad thought but I put it there. With these 'mind pops' they literally seem to just pop into my head.

Worrying

I don't think you were really that specific about explaining what kinds of thoughts are popping into your head, but . . . I do think there are some psychic things that exist which the mainstream doesn't believe in. But if you are thinking the radio is communicating with you, I am not a doctor but that does sound to me like a psychotic symptom. I have a diagnosis of some type of schizo disorder. I've never had any hallucinations before but recently I was getting some kind of mentalist feelings which seems like something that can happen with schizo-type disorders.

You could check out shamanism. I've worked a little with a few shamans long-distance although it wasn't a big help with my issues and I don't think they always see things correctly when they journey. You could also look into parapsychology but with that I do not want to make you feel more paranoid. There is one spiritual person I use to try to help myself; his name is Braco and you can check him out online if you're interested but I haven't been positive if he's helping me or if I am getting worse. Maybe some of my symptoms were more latent and have to come out more before I can work through them.

It sounds like you should see a different psychiatrist (and check their reviews online before going to them). Medication can probably help control these issues.

The thing is there are people who are into these paranormal or non-mainstream things, but at the same time they are mentally balanced and are able to function normally. Studying these things can be helpful (as long as you can handle the information) but at the same time, if these issues are causing you problems then you need to see a doctor (hopefully a good one) to help control the symptoms. Then in addition you can also maybe try some more spiritual ways of trying to work through the problems.

Lol who is this "me" you speak of? The thoughts are coming from you. Just because "you" only identify certain parts of yourself as being "you" doesn't mean it's not you.
