Re: Good delusions???

During my psychosis, I had the distinct feeling that I was activating a side of myself which had significant abilities like a spiritual leader. I felt that I had been some kind of great man in a past life, and this past life had been dormant in me but was now being unleashed. I took on the identity as this great spiritual man. I was grandiose, and felt highly inspired, so much potential... one day I experienced the "bringdown" where all of these feelings melted away over a few minutes. I apparently looked very sad. Life was dull again, I wasn't a great man, just a mental case...

I know this thread is rather old but I want to touch upon this.

If these bring you happiness, and improve your life and do not harm anybody I say indulge in them, there is so much about the world and life we do not understand, who is to say our thoughts are not real and those worlds we create do not exist, for in the space of our being mind and conscious they exist, it is a puzzle and we have not all the pieces.

I agree with Highhooves. I believe in the body (brain) and its physical evolution in this universe. Just as we cannot see certain frequencies of light nor hear certain wavelengths of sound, there may be countless other things for which our brain/being cannot measure or detect. "Delusions" may fall into this category (or may not, too). Further, should we every discover a method for detection/measurement of things that (may) make up delusional thoughts, we may still lack the capacity for understanding it/them.
