Weirdest story ever: My 17 year old daughter had a habit of pressing down on the bump on her nose (she had body dysmorphia and wanted a straight nose. She always had perfect, clear breathing, but she deviated her septum and now cartilage is blocking her airways and she can't breathe. It has been blocked for almost a year so we think it's permanent.
She doesn't want to spend the rest of her life with awful breathing, so we went to a doctor and the only way to fix it is a long, painful surgery which might not even work. She can't physically face having it done.
Now she thinks her life is over because she can't even exercise or exist without feeling uncomfortable (nose is all blocked and screwed up). She has no desire to go to college or do anything. She has gained 30 pounds this year (yes really) because she sits around all day eating. She can't exercise because her breathing is so bad.
What should I do? How can I get her to move on with her life? She doesn't want to live like this. She REFUSES to live like this. But the nose surgery she needs, septoplasty is downright horrifying, I don't care how many times it has been performed. What should she do? She wants to die
