how to face this world ?

Postby whyus? » Sun Jan 06, 2013 7:15 pm

Hi All,

my second post here..(first post should i feel guilty will give u a brief about me)
Some of you are living with a DD spouse and some of you have moved on..
So what I wanted to ask you all is how did you face the world ?...i come from a conservative community where divorce/seperation/mental illness or anything out of a happy marriage is not accepted. So far only my close family knows about my husband's DDJ illness. Although we have been seperated and not in regular contact for last several months I invited him for my daughters bday party since he has started with medications (its been over a month with risperdal shots).
My family and friends have figured out that something was not going well with our family and actually do not know what exactly it is. His meds have made him very slow and drowsy all the time, so obviously in the party his not so normal behaviour was being noticed. And some even came and asked me if he was ill...I told them that he has heavy sinus headaches and migrains for which he is taking heavy dose meds and thats made him very sleepy and drowsy. There is also that another question which comes up..".what does your husband do ?".

I am not giving too much importance to these things but just wanted you all to share your 2cents on how have faced the world ?

Hi whyus?

Welcome to the dd forum. I hope you find support here. You could share that your husband has medical issues. But with times being tough you can just leave it at "we are going trough a transition." or "My husband is unemployed."

The hardest thing for my family to learn was how to see my strengths when I was sick and just starting to recover. Try to see how his strengths will allow him to recover. If he has insight, you may find he can recover, or grow from the experience. You will probably all have to adapt some to cope. I hope you have a good therapist or an understanding support network. There are lots of spouses on the forums or ex spouses of dd people. Many of them have moved on. This condition changes everyone who is exposed to it. I wish you the best of care and good luck.
