Off med temporarily

Postby Dark_in_the_Light » Fri Mar 23, 2012 4:23 am

I went off paroxitene temporarily this week. I didn't do it with the doctor's advice. I had a big work load and unusual work schedule. I was afraid of being too sleepy to handle it all. This med makes me get enough sleep.

So I skipped the pill for two nights. I felt dizzy several times but it went away the day after I resumed. Things are back to normal with work now.

I felt slightly hypomanic just when I needed it. But I'm not recommending anybody else casually go off meds. I had an outlet for the energy and I needed the energy. Certain unwelcome thoughts kept playing over in my head part of the time too. I haven't had that happen since I started the med. It's scary how my outlook can be at the mercy of chemical reactions.

I think it's best to follow your doctor's advice when it comes to meds. Perhaps you could speak to your doctor about your concerns about being too sleepy in times when you have big workloads so that you can work out a solution with the help of your doctor? After all, this situation might happen again sometime as life can get busy. It might be best to discuss the possibility before you are in that busy situation again...
