When and how long?

Postby chuciklas » Wed Dec 21, 2011 3:19 pm

Sorry about multiple new topics in one day but I've some questions.

How old were you when you started 'showing symptoms'?
... when you decided you need to do something about it?
... when you got round to doing something?
How long do the ups and downs normally last for you?

Hi chuciklas..

I was diagnosed with cyclothemia at the age of 15 but first self harmed when i was 11 so i guess for me it started then? As i was so young i wasnt aware i may of had a problem and it wasnt until i was 13 my mum decided i needed to see a counciller as the self harming continued and i started to spiral out of control. Im now 19 and stopped seeing a counciller when i was 17.. for me cyclothemia has never gone away but after having my daughter i learnt to control the lows. Im at a point now where i feel like i need to seek help again. My moods change daily, and i mean from one extreme to the other over the slightest triggers. Sometimes though, highs can last for a few days and lows can last for up to a few days too.. there is no real pattern!

A few days usually. Sometimes a week or two. I've been on medication for about two months now. I have had mild ups and baseline times since instead of hypomania and subdepression.
