I realized that my pot of coffee thing was an
example of me altering my mood on my own momentarily... I produce a hypomanic state, pump the adrenaline then crash... But the author's talking about the frequency of shifting naturally from hypo to normal to depressed etc... Which for me can vary in frequency depending on the drama and stress or emotional calm and contentment in my life... : ) there... I think that makes more sense.

"...the urge to listen to more melancholic music or certain songs on your stereo could signal a downward spiral in your mood."

I'm usually in the depressive phase already when that happens, but I feel like the author is talking to me.

Hey, Dark... I agree. I tend to notice it only after I'm a few steps down on the ladder into a schmucky mood.

What book is this you're reading? (sorry if I'm asking a stupid question... haven't gone back and re-read the thread to see if you mentioned it)

Hugs,
K

You know what strikes a melancholic yet inspiring chord for me... I was in the pit of despair... Still am truth be told! And I pm'd Kosh... "my soul siste"r... Hey!!! Even when our insides are breakin' "shine on!". We come here to soak up and give positivity even in the midst of our own rain and pain... The music... Oh how it speaks to our souls... The sad songs can reinforce our ache... My last pm to her... I told her to download Michael Jackson's version of Smile!!! It was an anthem of hope for me when all I wanted to do was wallow in my despair as depression overwhelmed me. As people who struggle with cyclothymia... For the sake of the people we love, we must to find ways to pull ourselves out of the pit... And my aaahaah is that sad music can keep us there... And songs of hope can lift us out of the sadness even though out hearts can't shake the storm... But I'm with you brother... Music is our language!! It speaks to is like no other! Listen to smile!!! Over and over and over! It was good medicine for my aching heart : ). This is a super helpful book for me, sister!

Oh my sweet friend!!
Your uplifting and radiant spirit is like the sun that shines on my heart in the rain! I cried when I found that new avatar! In the Bible... Isiaiah saw that God called down fire and rain at the same time and the people didn't see the miracle! The sun radiating in my heart in midst of the rain gives me hope and you never fail to remind me of the miracle! And so I smile!!! Thank you dear friend!!! Me thinks you'll be stirred by this book that Dark and I have been diggin into! It's been great to respond and bounce ideas... And for you "my intellectual Tigger" oh the joy! We'll have a blast! Our overachiever Dark is way beyond me! I actually stopped cuz there's this section where you gotta get real with yourself and list all the nitty gritty unpleasantries about yourself that I haven't wanted to face just yet... I mean, $#%^!! When you're already depressed that's the BEST way to depress yourself even further, don't you think? So I haven't gone beyond part one because I haven't had the courage to deal honestly and courageously with part one! Although!!! It will be absolutely necessary for my growth, liberation, transformation and healing!!! This I know!!!! A must read!!!! Hee hee! Thanks for being here for me Kosh and Dark!! You're truly golden!!
