No bruising, only red stripes and some welts, if my memory serves me. I hope I was clear in that I used the folded belt as a whip and not as padding for my fist. It was usually gone the next day.

I'm less emotional these days. I only wanted to mention this as more or less a last option in case rubber bands and such aren't enough.

I wanted to join up just to post this, because I've never seen it written anywhere else and it's helped me so much over the years. Lemon juice. Drinking a teaspoonful of lemon juice gives this sharp shock that takes me out of the feelings and gives a slight release because of how unpleasant it is. This forum is really helpful to me, so I hope this also helps someone :)

It's usually not considered self injury unless its repetitive and the self harm is used to ease psychological or emotional pain.

Thank-you for this thread
I'm going to let my other half read it, then, he may just understand xx
A lot of people don't realize that depression is an illness. I don't wish it on anyone, but if they would know how it feels, I swear they would think twice before they just shrug it.

is taking excess medication, i.e, cough syrup, paracaetomols classed as self harm. not taking enough to kill but to harm. not recommending it.

I learned a very effective new one, but it hurts like hell

Get sore in the area you cut. I was doing all sorts of running and jumping and sliding on sunday and now my legs dont even wanna move, the best part is that it hurts exactly where i cut, and then some. It also requires you to go out and do something.
like... boo, man
