Hi,

I'm new to this forum. I usually post on the BPD forum, but have recently started to SI. I hadn't seriously harmed myself in about 6 or 7 years, but I can feel it starting again in the form of scratching until I bleed. So I'll probably be on this board on a regular basis, too.

Welcome to this forum. I hope you find it safe and supportive. I am sorry you have started hurting yourself again. Has anything in particular triggered this at all? Please look after yourself and keep safe.

A lot of people don't realize that depression is an illness. I don't wish it on anyone, but if they would know how it feels, I swear they would think twice before they just shrug it.

What triggered me was a break up. After every break up, I fall apart more and more. The severing of attachment to someone is traumatizing.

After the last break up, while I was moving out, I was literally collapsed on the floor screaming "I don't want to do this".

Since then, I've not been in the level of treatment I've needed to manage my mental illness, so I've been getting worse and worse. Isolating a lot, alone all day by myself some days.

Lately, I've been triggered a lot, and finally gave into my urges to self abuse, and feel like I've gotten to the point where I will be doing this until I can get into care that actually helps me.

welcome atomicuniverse,

I know how you feel. I have attachment issues as well and when relationships end, go bad, or have problems, I always blame myself.

Remember that a relationship involves another person and the success of one always requires both. The failure of a relationship often is because of both parts as well. So please don't beat yourself up over the fact it didn't work. relationships are really hard. I am sorry this is so hard for you.

I agree with Cracked, I hope you can find the help you need. PLease be gentle on yourself. You are already hurting re: the break up, and i know misery loves company, but you body and soul does not need to hurt more.

Be safe,
Sam
