Personnaly i would'nt try to change anybody or hope for change if i were you.
I hoped for that 5yrs ago and now found myself trying to get out off a relationship ( very difficult)
You sound very clever go and find somebody who you like for themselfs , somebody you dont have to change , believe me it is very hard work and upsetting

Sounds like perhaps he was out to impress you and is now embarassed, and perhaps feeling a bit foolish. We all want to impress people we are interested in, and perhaps he didnt feel like he came up to the mark.
It sounds as if you dont know him very well, but are interested in him. Its very hard to know with people we dont know well if he really cares what you think or not. All we can do in these situations is follow our gut instincts and keep our eyes open for red flags.
