Thank You! I am committed to fixing this. Things are going well at this point, I know it's a long road and will take time but it's a change that has to be made. Rebuilding a foundation with a building(relationship) already on it is much harder then building it right/strong in the first place. You are right, I don't tell her enough how much I really do appreciate her, not just in this issue but for everything she does!

Just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to jmaneypanda and Billi for all the support, advice and encouragement you give everyone that comes here. It's hard for us to come looking for help to start with, if we were met with silence and no replies it would be brutal and seem hopeless.
Thank you both again

This gives me even more hope for myself.

You are one of only 2? people that actively come here and give new people like me advise and encouragement. You give us hope that there is a better way to live then through lies. You and Billi deserve a big pat on the back!
Having said that, things are still going well here. It's been about a month since our last issue and I'm still working on fixing it. In the past I would have stopped as soon as things cooled down so I may actually be making progress.

Well done Colt on the massive progress you are making in your recovery. That's wonderful news that complacency and arrogance hasn't slipped back in as is sometimes the case with addicts of all types once the heat is off.
Thank you too for your kind words. Having read through every post on this forum going back 10 years for my research into lying addiction, I know that it is not a lack of interest or not caring that has made people not post supportive messages to new posters. It is simply that until now, there has been no real understanding that compulsive lying is an addiction in its own right so there has been no help for people. A small handful of lucky lying addicts found great therapists who were able to help them but most of these people didn't document their recovery journey on here so no-one felt the benefit of their recovery experience sadly.
Until now then, there has been no "community" on this forum but it is on the brink of being one and I am holding my breath as I witness it being born. As I am not a lying addict myself, I hope to be able to pass the baton over to lying addicts full-time eventually once I see the community flourish.

I found a quote on another board I go to, thought it may help someone.
"Tell the truth, it becomes your past. Tell a lie it becomes your future"

Just checking in. Had a good lie free weekend. Things still seem to be going well. We're actually talking a bit about our future so that gives me hope

That's wonderful Colt. Just keep living in the moment and day and telling yourself that you only have to not lie for that moment one day at a time. It then becomes a lot easier to stay stopped on a permanent basis. If you slip here and there, don't beat yourself up either. Relapse is often a part of addiction. Just immediately backtrack if you do.
