so lost.... hlp.... pls

Postby Amirlyme » Mon Jul 10, 2006 4:15 pm

I have a huge problem with lying, been lying about most everything since I was little. Mostly little embelishments here and there to make me look like a nicer person. But my lies are getting bigger and sometimes I even think that maybe they are true...like I blocked memories or something. I am talking with a counsellor, and I try to tell him I am lying but I want him to like me and keep talking with me, so I keep adding more "stuff" to my stories. :(
And best part is, he is also counselling my husband and I with regards to marriage issues... thus he brings up things I say in our private sessions and I have to lie to my husband as well. :(
I need serious help....

I have also posted in the rape and sexual assault forum and proudly I can say I didn't lie.

I'd say the best thing to do is come clean with one of the two and see how it goes. Having read your other post, there might very well be some repressed memories which you can only partially recall.

Counsellors are there to help you deal with serious issues, I don't think embellishing or misleading them will help you in either the short or long run. Be honest in your conversations and you will receive the most benefit. Im sure that the counsellor will keep working with you as long as you feel that it is helping.

I hope this helps.
