Hi I am new to this but in some serious desperate need of some help. I have been lying for so long now I am loosing my family and I fear this is my last and final chance I have and I am so desperate to stop. I love my man so much and I can't loose him. I have never been honest with him especially when its tough but I really really need to turn this around once and for all. I'm not a bad person (I know lying is a spitful selfish thing to do). Has anyone over come this and if so please I need some advice? I can't loose my family please ....

Welcome Ktwill ,

I am sorry that you are struggling with this compulsion . Is there someone you can talk to about this , as in a therapist ?

You are not a bad person . This is not a choice , it's a compulsion . Maybe even taking a few deep breaths before speaking could focus your attention on the idea that you are about to lie about something .

Perhaps that little moment of self-awareness can help you to not give in to the urge to lie .

There is a lot of good information in the topics at the top of the page . It's possible that you can find some useful techniques there .

I wish you well .

You are very welcome .

I am a compulsive gambler . Not the same thing as you are dealing with , but the " compulsion " part is something that I understand very well . It feels like some alien thing has taken over your brain and is in control of your actions . All you can do is watch helplessly while it's happening .

It's horrible .
