Hi,
Its been only a few years since I understood that I'm a lesbian. It's causing severe impact in my life. How people look at me worries me the most. This resulted in anxiety problems. I don't know how to recover from it. Wrong thoughts and feelings are darkening my mind.
Recently I consulted an
OCD therapy treatment clinic in Toronto. They suggested for Exposure Response Prevention. That was the first time I heard about it. They said its similar to CBT. Does anyone know more about this? Share your knowledge.
Thank You!

welcome to the forum,
From my understanding ERP is a specific form of treatment and is related to CBT through the way is work. I think is where you slowly expose the individual to gradually more anxious situations to eventually get over a specific even. Like if you are scared of flying, you might look at an airplane, then touch an airplane, the sit in an airplane and so on...
With CBT, its the idea that your thoughts, affect your feeling and those feelings affect your actions and the connection between those three aspects which shape your core beliefs. The ERP is helping reshape your thoughts and thus your feelings about the situation.
