I was meeting my college counsellor over period of 6 months.( I think)
I have finished my course a few months now and therefore can no longer avail of this service anymore.
I have been tempted to email my college counsellor but haven't.
I don't want to be weird or appear needy. Don't want to let on that this counsellor has had this impact.
Its like I am pretending that I haven't given this counselling relationship a second thought since sessions terminated.
When I catch my self thinking about emailing the counsellor I tell my self that the person was doing a job and doesn't really care about me. I convince my self to forget and not bother with them because I would be letting my self down or embarrassing myself?
Is it odd that I am still thinking about my counsellor and would like to talk again in the future?
I would appreciate your feedback and advice please.

It's not odd that you've been thinking about your counselor at all. They had an important impact on you in your life and maybe you shared some stuff with them you wouldn't normally share with other people. That creates a special kind of bond and therefore it's not "abnormal" that you wish you could keep talking with them. Convincing yourself that they don't care about you isn't going to stop you from thinking about them. If anything, it's only going to make you think about them more. I think once you accept that they had a great impact on you and that it's over now, it won't consume your thoughts as much. But the fact is you might always be grateful to that person for what they helped you through and there's nothing wrong with giving them a nice thought every once in a while. There's no need to forget them.
I like living in the world in my head because I'm in charge half the time.
