Where Child abuse rates in society's priorities

Postby Terry E. » Sat Apr 04, 2020 2:20 am

I have always known this and maybe you do too, but everyone else out there who has not lived this will tell someone otherwise. We run some awesome workshops here (Australia). Around 40 people with two moderators. Life changing stuff. Mel and Jane really know their stuff. We have a city of 4M people. We run one a year. We get part govt funding for a telephone help line, but we have to run the workshops at our own expense to maintain that funding and run one in each city, even though some cities are less than a Mill. Not saying we should not but the waiting list in my city fills basically the day it is announced. Our workshops are crowd funded.

Last week to save our 70+ population, those in bad health, we handed out 130B.

Somehow a senile 90 year old is worth more than trying to fix someone's life who got f@#*ed over by society who just did not give a damm.

Sorry if any of you are losing loved ones, but I don't have any and don't think I ever really did.

Hugs Terry, I get what you mean. Completely. Child abuse, unless you have experienced at different levels remains abuse and is not ever acceptable, and it is damaging to an individual. People don't understand me and you would think I fit in perfectly, but my damaging abuse shows through me each and every day in my work day. Through no confidence no matter how good I do. Through fear and feeling like I can't do a good enough job and other things. How do I explain this to anyone? I just don't because in their eyes, it's not reason enough to be the way I am. Them not having lived my life, they just don't and can't comprehend.

Many hugs, my friend...

I think most people think emotional wounds don' t exist. child abuse, depression, anxiety -- 'get over it' they say.

it gives some people a sense of superiority that they have more 'will power' than the rest.

child abuse doesn't leave any physical wounds like bleeding arms, fractures or such... I think treating a physical ailment is easy than counselling. it also appears more glamorous n 'real job' when we think from society's perspective.

medical tv shows n movies are also based on complicated physical ailments n not much focus is on emotional abuse.

I could have written that word for word. uncanny to see someone else write it.

Over what seems like a lifetime my wife has begun to understand my childhood. I think she only actually got it when one night after I got the "why don't you .. speech", I replied what is the worst thing that has ever happened to you. She answered the night we spent in ER after our boys had a car accident and my youngest almost died. I replied not even close. Woulds not make my top ten. It was a good way to explain it.

Quiet hugs always accepted, hope you and yours are getting along okay. They are lucky to have you.

Janus, yep .. and I love your spelling and grammar. Capitals as a way to mark sentences rather than paragraphs is way overrated.

take care.
