a very good piece. There is so very little out there about survivors telling their story in the public domain, that this is very good.
a couple of points - she acknowledges that an event which for most people would be the biggest thing in their lives was to her not so big (it was just her normal childhood day a little worse than the rest)
she also states how she thought she coped extremely well, until (I think ) early 30s. A lot of us do. That 30s can be a real turning point for us.
asked about her trauma, she says it was her day to day, of dealing with a drunken abusive father that gave her much more trouble than when she saw her mother kill him (he came home and fired a shotgun, the mother got it off him and killed him to protect her daughter - court ruled self defense ). People underestimate how bad that dad to life can be.
