Would this be considered Abuse?

Postby jak » Tue Jan 05, 2016 11:44 pm

So basically, my parents are divorced, and I rarely visit my dad. But when I do, i always feel scared to talk to him because he is very intimidating and I always have to lie to him because I am scared he will get mad and yell. He threatens me often *mod edit*. He always makes me feel bad and guilty and I can never confront him if he does something. And he has this girlfriend and he doesnt give a crap if i like her or not *mod edit*. He also gets mad at me for my grades and for my attitude even though i cant really help it since i have depression and anxiety, but he doesnt give a crap about that either. He just intimidates me and makes sure i feel inferior and worthless compared to him. He never apologizes for making me feel like $#%^ and he always makes a huge deal when he buys me something and he makes me feel guilty for it.

Dear Jak:

Yes, i believe this is abuse. I am sorry this is what you are experiencing. Is it possible for you to not visit your father at all?

It is scary when a parent screams and yells and threatens... and it hurts when a parent doesn't respect what you think or feel. We, as children, start as completely loving our parents. When a parent is abusive, over time, we become angry... because we are hurt so often, hurt by the person we loved so much.

I am so sorry, Jak. So very sorry.

Please post again...
