So this pulling the pants down is not specific to weddings -- probably happens more at pubs, etc?

We have normalized so much bullying behavior it is sad. Sometimes the bullies don't even realize they are bullying. That is no excuse of course. Just a sad commentary on our culture that we are so cruel to others all in the name of fun.

Definitely not specific to wedding.. mostly it happens less at weddings, and more in pubs/nightclubs/outside nightclubs etc.

It is sad isn't it.. that we now have a culture where things like this are accepted as normal in many places, and the people that see it as normal can't understand the viewpoints of the people that are dismayed by it.

How does your daughter feel about everything now Shelby? xx

Caught in the middle between me and civility on the one hand, and the husband who remains loyal to the clods at the wedding. Thank goodness he was not one of them. But his friends need to do some soul-searching.

Thank you for your thoughts and guidance on this. It helps to vent - and now I will try to put it behind me, knowing that I am not wrong in feeling so hurt about it. But, as they say, it is what it is. However, having been through the experience, I would advise anyone to refrain from hosting a wedding of any significant size or expense, as you cannot predict how rude your guests will be, and it is quite hurtful.

Thank you.

I definitely don't see it as bullying, however I can't see any "humour" in it either. I think it's just a case of some friends being immature jerks.

The more I think of this, the more I am able to sort of "be in the bride's shoes" and I can see myself feeling like it's bullying against me, the bride in particular. It's shaming. So in that way of looking at it, it's clearly a bullying-like description. It's directed at her even with it seeming like no big deal to those guys. They could have been quiet and respectful towards her in her most important day of her life. But rather, they acted like "teenagers" at some drinking party. Just my opinion, anyhow.

Bullying involves a gross imbalance of power, where unwanted physical, mental, or emotional abuse is inflicted repetitiously on a certain target individual/group over an extended amount of time. It often goes on for several years, targeting the same individual and/or group.
