Boss Bullys me at Work

Postby eacorn » Thu Nov 21, 2013 9:21 pm

My boss at work targets me with bullying. I work as a sales consultant. My boss has done numerous things to me and I need help handling him so I don't loose my job.

My boss talks bad about me to others behind my back. He blames me for problems, while he gives a free pass to my co-workers on same situations. He is extra hard and critical of me. He wont listen or try to understand my point of view. In fact, he flat out yells and screams at me and then blames me for getting him revved up. One time he accused me of something by blowing up at me. That time I finally had enough and screamed back at him. We got face to face and almost got into a fist fight. Even worse than all of this is he prevents me from having a successful career. He is in charge of the internet leads that come into our business. These are typically guaranteed sales. There are six other sales consultants besides me, including a new person who he gives these leads to. I have been there for over two years. I have gone to the owner with this concern and it seems to fall on deaf ears.

If anyone cane give me some helpful advice or point me in the direction of help I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks :D

Here's one I posted earlier:

1/ Define your constructive purpose. Both you and he are trying to achieve the same result, so spell that out as your constructive purpose. Do not ignore this step.
2/ Identify specific behaviour of his that is compromising your ability to be effective in those areas.
3/ Outline the behaviour you're entitled to as an employee of your employer, not him. He is your manager but not your employer and it's your employer you have a contract with.
4/ Make it clear that you're not willing to tolerate this behaviour and that you are showing him respect and courtesy by discussing the matter with him. Let him know that if it continues then you'll escalate the situation with his line manager.
5/ Write down his responses including any threats. Keep it objective and use respectful language.
6/ If he agrees then shake hands and re-state your constructive purpose.
7/ If he doesn't agree then remind him that you gave him the opportunity to discuss it but you'll now be requesting a meeting with his manager to discuss your working conditions.

You should be able to adjust it to your situation.
I'm not arguing; I'm explaining why I'm right.

It sounds like your boss has a personality disorder like ASPD. Change jobs.

Probably an egomanic, similar to an NDP, megalomania.

In the business world, the NDPs are the most malicious and demanding of them all.

I think this is the best way to address your particular problem
