Women all over the world, empower yourselves! Do not accept violence in any form against you.
Seven in ten women have been abused in some way in their life time. Nearly one in three of these abuses are sexually. More than 600 million women live in countries where domestic violence is not considered a crime. Watch this movie to see what the United Nations have to say about this.
If you are abused presently at home or anywhere else, remember that the world is on your side if you stand up for yourself.
If you are a religious person, do not think for one moment your Creator has created you as an inferior human being. If anything your Creator will support you if you demand respect for yourself. You are a beautiful human being and your Creator loves you as much as anyone else. You are a valuable and powerful person, and you go against the wish of your Creator if you do not acknowledge this.
If you respect yourself as much as any civilized man and woman should respect you, then repeat these principles of respect every day
• No one may touch me if I don’t allow him.
• No one may tell me that I am inferior for whatever reason.
• No one may disrespect me because I am a woman.
You deserve respect from everyone. This is your birthright. You have been created equal in every respect. Different as human beings may be, there is no such thing as inferiority of a human being whether it’s a matter of sexe, race or for any other reason.
If you are still in doubt because of what your parents or others in your surroundings tell you, read here what the United Nations have to say about the fundamental rights of every human being. The people of the world, men and women, are on your side if you speak up for yourself.
Find other women with whom you can share your feelings and experience and empower them and yourself by saying ‘we respect ourselves too much to allow any form of violence against us’.
Stand up, speak up, the time is right for you to do so. The world is changing rapidly. In many countries not only in the U.S. and Europe but all over the world, after many centuries of suppression, millions of women have fought in the past decades for their rights and have acquired an equal and respected position in society. You can be part of this new wave of powerful women, if you stand up for yourself.
Remember, you are not against anyone else, you fight for what is your fundamental birthright: to be treated as a valuable human being, who is more nor less than any other.
If you do stand up, don’t forget to appreciate yourself for it and tell the world about the courage you have shown. Not only have you served your own cause, but also that of every other human being all over the world since no-one in his right mind wants you to suffer any longer than you have already done. Whatever anyone may tell you, you have treated yourself with the respect you deserve and that is the biggest gift you can give yourself and the whole world.
