recovered but still has problems

Postby xioloen » Sun Nov 26, 2006 6:22 am

ok i think i posted this earlier but cant find it.

i havent had bulimia for about one and a half years. but whenever i eat i burp food up like a mouthful of food and it doesnt matter how little or much i eat it always happens everyday. i know this has happened to others that had recovered with bulimia and i guess my question is this: how the hell do you stop it? ive been to the docs and they knew nothing. but im worried im hurting my esophogus and its damaging me. its like i might as well be bloody bulimic.

Next time you have the urge to burp just tell yourself that you won't do so and then get on with your day - You simply have no need to do this. It might also help to drink a glass of water after the meal.

If you induce burping (as opposed to burping naturally) then you will disrupt the passage of food through your digestive system. The volume of air that you put into your stomach to induce the burp is usually less than the volume of what you actually burp out. The remaining air would form bubbles in the chyme (Chyme is the liquidy solution in your stomach that consists of broken-down food, acid, and enzymes). Later-on in your intestine these bubbles would cause discomfort and in the colon would cause flatulence.

Unless you have a medical condition that causes abnormal levels of gas in your stomach I just dont believe you. If you think about burping then you will feel like burping. However, if you don't think about burping then you won't do so. I know this to be true because I was once like you.

No no, you misinterpreted me... ...but I didn't explain too well either. The need to burp after eating is always there but most people do not think about it and thus do not burp. So, my simple suggestion to you my dear is to stop thinking about burping and just get on with the rest of your day.

Take care,
Kevster

Nah, that won't do any harm to you. Well, it wont' do any physical harm but it appears to be causing mental harm. Just move away from it and let the food through.

What do you eat that causes it by the way? You could be naturally intolerant to something. For instance, if I eat porridge my stomach starts to cramp.
