On and off

Postby shibe » Tue Oct 08, 2013 6:20 pm

Hello friends !
kinda new here and looking for some advice??

I've been suffering with bulimia for about 5 years now. It first started in highschool, which it was consistent for about 2 years. As soon as I dropped out of highschool and started working full time I managed to stop the bindging and purging for 2 years. Until this year..
It's been very on and off. Some months I'll get it for weeks at a time, then i'll just stop all together.
I absolutely hate it. The vicious cycle of it all.
I've never seeked professional help, I just don't have that kind of money or time to do so.
However I have been trying my best to stop completely. Regular exercise, early bed times, healthy foods..
Its been working really well and I've been feeling so much better!

Unfortunately again, I'll do well for 4 or 5 days and then for a day or two I'll binge and purge repeatedly. What scares me most is the bindging and purging is the most worst its ever been over the 5 years. I tell myself repeatedly to stop, thats it, I'm done. But then again it just keeps happening and I feel just awful.

So yeah, any tips to stop bindging/ purging?
Or should perhaps I actually be getting professional help?

Thanks! :)

Hi Shibe,

Welcome to the forum!

Yes!!! Get professional help. It doesn't hurt to reach out to places like this, either, and some of the best healing I've done has been with other people who have eating disorders. If you can't afford the help, I highly recommend finding a support group.

Are you aware of your thoughts and feelings before a binge/purge? For myself, that's the key to stop them. I have to admit and deal with those to stop it from being projected onto food.

Some people find that working with a dietician helps avoid the binges. Before you binge, are you restricting?

I hope you find the support you need here.
Blame it on me, but know that I won't regret one iota.
