Does this mean I'm getting better or worse?

Postby puzzle » Thu May 25, 2006 2:57 am

I've been bulimic for a few years now, and before that it was overeating without purging. I've never been able to go without food until recently. I was sick and couldn't eat for a week, by the time I could eat again I didn't want to. I've barely purged since then, but I've also cut down my eating significantly. Yesterday, for example, I ate a bowl of museli and 2 coffees. However I didn't purge, I didn't even want to. I just have no idea if this is me getting better or if it's just the start of a new problem or if it's just a pause.

hmm...i think that because of not eating for that week it caused your stomach to shrink causing you to not be as hungry...but u definitly dont want to start starving yourselve, you should try eating small (but healthy portions) of food everyday to get your self back to eating again but make sure that you dont eat to much were your gonna feel the need to start throwing up again...these problems arent gonna easily be fixed your gonna have to work at them but if you try ur hardest i think you can do it...and if u no anyone you r really close to you could even ask for there help when your feeling like you cant handle it anymore...i hope everything works out for you good luck

Hey,

Yes you should "try eating small (but healthy portions) of food everyday" as Kayty has stated. A great starting point is to only eat at certain times each day and stick to this pattern no matter what. Also, try to imagine exactly what you will eat before you begin the meal - This will make it easier to only eat a certain, healthy, amount of food.

In response to you general question (Whether or not you are getting better or worse) I feel that you getting better. Over the past year I have gone through cycles of binge-eating followed by purging and binge-eating without purging just like you are doing now. Slowly, I am getting better with my food so this is why I feel that you are too.
