Sharp Pains

Postby Guest » Thu Apr 13, 2006 12:38 pm

Hi, I'm just curious whether this is a result of bulimia or whether it's something completely unrelated. I have been getting sharp pains inside the lower part of my rib cage when I drink (alcohol) for a year or so. Last night I had the pain and again today, I wasn't doing or drinking anything at the times, infact I think I was just watching TV last night. Also when I purged today I got a pain just below the center of my breasts. I've had this pain before but it's not a regular thing. As I said I was just wondering if this is related or something seperate :?

Hey,

The abdomen is full of the majority of our organs. The ones I suspect are your liver and stomach.

If it is the liver it might have become damaged due to alcohol. Alcohol is a toxin and one of the liver's roles is to neutralise (Break-up) toxins. How long have you been purging by vomitting for? Perhaps your liver became weak from purging and is now struggling to cope with the alcohol intake.

However, I most suspect it to be a problem with your stomach. You might have developed an ulcer there and thus need medication. The condition most likely is Gastritis. To further add weight to the issue: Our stomachs lie to the left of our chests, near the base of the rib-cage.

hi, what u described, i get that near exact but not frm alcohol, the sharpe pains under my ribs are normally in the morning but sme times durin the day, and the pain under ur boobs i get that i just thought it was my bra tho' but have both of them every day at least, never thought it would b related to throwin up, which i go in and out of doing, du to childhood expereinces, its weird to no sme 1 else has it but nice to no im not alone, for me its like when u take a breath it feels like sme 1 is stabbin a knife in u, is that how it feels to u? makes it hard to breath, doesnt help my pannic attacks as well, do u get those??

Hey,

I don't know if the thread-starter will reply again considering he/she is an unregistered member. So, I have decided to reply to you.

Everything in my previous post holds true but I don't want to say for definite what is wrong with you - I am no doctor. It could be a problem with the tissue at the entry to your stomach (Where the Oesophagus connects to it), a problem with your transverse colon, a burst blood vessel, or a genetic disorder causing havoc. It is most likely your stomach though considering the location of the pain in your body.

The best advice is to go to your GP. When I began having pains in my abdomen I had no idea what was happening to me. I let the pains persist for about half-a-year until finally going to a GP. As it turned out if I had left it much longer my colon would have ruptured and I would be dead right now.

So, if you are serious about living, go to your dotor.

If you've had it since that age then it's most likely a genetic disorder. Are you normally stressed and/or tense?

Yes, when I say genetic I mean that you got it from your parents... ...kind of. You see, you definately got your genes from your parents but maybe not the disorder. It could have been caused by a mutation of one of your own genes whilst you were developing in your mother's womb. I won't go further into this though because it's something that I am yet to study.

Just, if you are really worried about these pains then insist upon seeing a doctor. I cannot really say any more.

Take care,
Kevster.

neither of my parents have any breathing problems, and i reli have tryed to got to the doctors about it, honest its jsut my mum and dad, seem to believe my life has bn perfect and they r living in this bubble, nothin is ever possibly worng with me and im usually makin it up or gettin over excited, unless i busrt there bubble i dnt get nereal attention frm them and the attention i get is never good, so i cant get to the doctors unless my mum takes me and she wont i have asked many times but if she did she ould b in the room at the same time and she always answers ne questions the doctors have and both of them think i lie alot and the doctor tol my mum that i have a wild imagination and am slightly disturbed with the things i lie about an im an attenchion seeker, this was after i told him sumithing confidentioally so now she always sits in, so bascially im stuck, sorry for wasting your time thanks for relplying

I don't know what age you are but it sounds as if your parents are being over-protective. If you are already an adult then you need to start showing them so - Take control of your own life and begin doing everything for yourself. Show them that you do'nt need them. What you can do is arrange an appointment with a different doctor and go on your own. Don't forever let your parents run your life.
