New here!

Postby LAmourToujours » Sun Apr 15, 2012 5:53 pm

Hi! I'm new to this forum. I got diagnosed BPD around age 26 (I'm 29). I tried 6 months of DBT a few years ago but my therapist didn't reinforce the skills or use the diary cards and I gave up. It's been a few years now.. I also have a pretty bad anxiety disorder. My shrink doesn't want me on any meds but benzos so I just am med free running around. These past few weeks have been very bad. I had some energy in the beginning of the year but I'm just drained and moody now. I've been trying to seek out a BPD specific therapist again, with very little luck. The only one in my area was the one I didn't get anywhere with, and the rest are an hour or so away. Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions?

HI there!!! Welcome to the forum!

First off, it can be limited in areas in finding DBT. It's not exactly new, but it is new to those that are already practicing. I live in a town/city type place, and even here, there aren't many resources close by.

You probably already know that there is no magic pill for treating BPD, but if you are experiencing some heavy anxiety symptoms, you may want to ask your pdoc if you can address that?

Regardless- I wish I had more I could say to fix things for you, but sometimes just knowing that we're on here listening can be better than nothing at all :0). We're glad that you found us!!!

lamour;
just wanted to say hi! and welcome;

It is sometimes very difficult to find the proper help, even in big city’s.
And there isn’t much on line either, but I did find this:

http://www.dbtselfhelp.com/

It might not be of any help to you, but thought just in case… but like miss A stated,
You did find your way here and they are a great bunch!

(sorry miss A if I wasn’t supposed to post websites)
