Your best bet is probably to find a therapist. Yes, there are books available, but there is a catch. They really only work when used in conjunction with live therapy.

Books are great for learning static things, like algebra or computer programming. When it comes to dealing with a personality, it is best to have a live human walk you through it, someone who can bring you back when you slam the book shut and declare "this is stupid!" If changing or controlling a personality was as easy as reading a book, let's face it; none of us would be here right now.

You can get workbooks through Amazon.. try this link.
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_ ... aps%2C1012 If it doesn't work just search dialectical behavior therapy. I also suggest reading the reviews... Also search youtube. I know Marsha Linehan has stuff on there, and probably find tons of other stuff. There is no right or wrong, whatever works for you is what works. :)

there's also a website http://www.dbtselfhelp.com

Whether or not you can learn it on your own depends on well you can grasp the material. If you can afford a dbt therapist, that would be your best option. If you can't try the workbooks!

DBT overall is great. It will help in many areas, may not solve everything. There have been critical areas in my life that dbt has not helped with. It doesn't have anything to do with dbt or me not trying.. There are things that I just can't relate to in my brain (that a normal person would experience/feel), and I've had to radically accept that. Will it change in the future maybe/maybe not. That's what dbt is all about. I intend on writing something about this at some point.. I'm just to lazy at the moment, and too much $#%^ running through I'm head to put my thoughts together. Feel free to pm if you have questions.

best!

Well, it depends on what country you're in. Where are you?

Hi walking!

I wanted to welcome you to the board! I'm in the US, too, and I'm not sure what city in AR you're in, but I have done some simple searches for you, and have got you started. You can modify your city information, and find ones that are closest to you. Please don't put your city on the public board, LOL. We wanna keep you anonymous :0).

Let me know via PM if you need a more direct location pen search. I can usually help people find resources in their areas :0).

We're happy to have you here!
