Trying to not go super nova.

Postby Rednal » Sun Apr 01, 2012 3:36 am

I am in a online class where this one guy says to another student that their idea was simple minded and proceeds to correct their spelling while making spelling mistakes of his own. So i responded to his discussion board past saying I thought "that was rude and that it is almost always a mistake to correct someones spelling while making mistakes of their own."

The instructor responds to me by saying "Thank you for toning down the rhetoric accusation".

I cannot tell you how unbelievably annoyed and angry this makes me. How is it that this guy is being so blatantly rude to the other student, and I am the one whom the instructor decides to say something to.

I guess i should have just let it happen. Let the idiot make whoever he wants feel stupid. I gotta tell you its no wonder kids kill themselves for being bullied when instructors say nothing, and infarct defends them when someone tries to stop it.

Its two days past the deadline to withdraw from the class, else I would have done it.

I'm a little more calm now. Dr Laing, a sociologist said something that this makes me think about.

"Mental illness is a sane response to an insane world"

Columbus was sane, celebrated as a hero, has a holiday named after him, and he set into practice policy that ended with 100 million Indian deaths. How insane is society for ignoring this, and still celebrating his day. If I'm mentally ill, its because of crap like this.

Is it a uni class? I've found that a lot of times, uni instructors (both profs and TA's) don't like being told by their students. Many seem to be very self-centered and believe they're owed reverence from their students, rather than corrections.

Could be why I didn't last too long there.

Its a college class. I prolly was not very clear when i described what happened. The person I wrote to was a student who told another student that their ideas were simple minded and proceeded to correct their spelling. I told the student that i thought it was rude. The professor then, two months later, wrote that i should tone down the accusatory rhetoric. Essentially he was telling me I should not have accused the student, who was being rude to the other student, of being rude.

The student whom I accused of being rude, is still being rude. Recently he said to someone that the reason no one responds to their post is because they make no sense.

Meanwhile the professor has said nothing to the rude student.

The student has also been rude to the professor, though he deleted those post. The professor, being apathetic toward the class, likely never noticed before the deletion.
