Dominant emotion *potential trigger?*

Postby Cabiano » Thu Mar 15, 2012 5:11 am

What do you guys find is your "go to" for strong emotion?

When I was little I was explosive and would fly into a rage at any inconsistency.
I was told over and over that anger and aggression (as I was displaying them) were bad, so I switched from anger to sadness being dominant.
Because of this I flip out when I get angry, because I feel completely out of control. This usually leads to a rapid (seconds-long) switching of strong emotion : anger to fear to sadness to hopelessness to anger to sadness to fear etc.
When I'm really sad I can hurt myself but I feel much more controllable being sad than being angry.

In addition, when other people make me sad I'm much more likely to become dependent and shut them out slowly, if at all. When I'm angry I tend to close off a lot more abruptly.

What do you guys think?

I've tried to analyze my emotions with this, and tend to find when it comes to anger... it's usually a fear of losing something that ignites my anger, which then turns into sadness and then hopelessness/despair. that seems to be my cycle. As far as, dominant emotion.. I'd say it just depends.. It would be anger or hopelessness..

For me, it would probably be despair/hopelessness. Sometimes, I wish I expressed it outward more often, but usually, I internalize things and eventually let it collapse on me.

Despair/hopelessness, or anxiety.

not exactly an "emotion", per se, but what comes to mind for me is that feeling that the universe is out to get me. something happens to reinforce this belief nearly every day, sometimes multiple times in a day. definitely something I deal with A LOT.

I think mine would be ..

pain.

for what I go through, and for what others go through.
