Describe a "good" day

Postby flowingtears » Tue Jan 24, 2012 11:34 pm

What constitutes a good day for you? I'm not asking what a "perfect" day would be like, I just want to know about days you have in your life already, however rare they may be, that you define as "good".

I am having a good day today, which is why I'm asking.

I woke up to my phone ringing - a friend asking me to meet her for coffee, and offering to pay for it when I told her I was broke. I dozed for a few hours after that, knowing that I had a "reason" to get up, even if it was just meeting my friend.

I got to talk to my friend honestly about how my life is going right now, and vent some of my recent frustrations.

I spoke to my best friend on the phone, and arranged to visit her later this week.

Both my cats were in not long after I got home, so I didn't need to worry about them being out for too long or thinking something might have happened.

I found the motivation to tidy my apartment for the first time in weeks, and did a better job than I usually do.

I had dinner with my family, and there were no arguments.

I checked my email, caught up on 3 different forums I'm a member of, caught up with some of my closest friends on facebook, sent and received several PMs.

Now, it's almost midnight, and I'm not tired, so I'm thinking I might wait for a few hours until my money goes into my bank account (usually about 3am), and go to the 24 hour supermarket nearby to buy all the food, cat food etc. that I'll need for the week. I love shopping when the supermarket is almost deserted, and they tend to have a lot of stuff reduced in the early hours of the morning.

I feel good today. My problems haven't disappeared, I may feel awful tomorrow, but, at least for today, I feel like I can cope. I feel like I am a good and worthwhile person, and that the world would be at least a little worse off without me.

So that's my good day - what's yours?

This is important, atleast to me & you. Being able to make my own day for the most part helps me have a good day. Lately I enjoy a simple day, sleep till whenever, few hours of work, meal at home & usually go out for dinner & a hike. the rest is optional for a good day quick call or two & some texting. I can take a few days a week as busy with constant errands, phone calls etc I try not to make my schedule that crazy often.

A good day is where
- I don't have to deal with the difficult woman at work
- I don't have to deal with idiot customers who don't listen and have all the time in the world and want me to stand around and entertain them all day at work (I don't think I'm all that well suited to the tourism/hospitality industry)
- I don't have panic attacks
- I don't feel utterly depressed and suicidal and my moods aren't quite so extreme
- I don't self harm
- I realise that someone truly seems to care about me
- where people are willing to listen to what I have to say and not just brush me off
- people don't dump impossible amounts of work on me
- my back is not painful (went to the physiotherapist yesterday and it did wonders)
- I feel like I'm in control (yeah yeah, I'm a bit of a control freak and get upset when I'm not in control)

Yup, that about sums it up. Thanks, lilyfairy.

And one more from me

- I can see a brighter future ahead if I work hard (study/people/relationships) and am willing to put in the time and sweat.

Today was a good day..

-i laughed heartily at even the stupidest joke
-i only "half-procrastinated"(finished half the work i need to submit). I consider it a BIG accomplishment already. I congratulated myself with a self-hug!
-i didn't pretend to act interested with other people stories today, i really listened..even asked the right questions at the right time(without interrupting)..so i seemed totally normal. Yay!
-i was complimented twice re looks (it adds G to a good day lol)
-i still felt "mysteriously happy" even when an aunt tried to throw crap at me..i was still happy! Weird!
-i felt energetic even with only 3 hours sleep
-i was able to buy more vitamins
-i helped an old lady get a pushcart
-i feel warm to know somebody loves me despite my flaws/imperfections

So that's it!

I give it 3 SMILES for the day
:) :) :)

I wish i'd wake up to this feeling everyday..
Love tattooed forever..................

A good day is a day in which I feel like I can function and NOT feel mentally and physically worn out.

I can clean the kitchen, clean the rooms (not counting the living room, which is where I stay with the baby majority of the time and is clean), not blank out and feel like I'm not there, and feel fulfillment during the day without having to search for something to fulfill myself.

A good day is when I can go most of the day and not be constantly stopping to think, "oh yeah, that was probably a BPD action." It's a day when I can feel like them, I can feel normal.

Lets see… A GOOD Day

Would be not having to worry about where bill money is coming from…
Not tripping over the dog and spilling my coffee…
Not thinking about husband…
Not having a migraine…

Having a belly laugh with my son…
Getting a hug from my son…
Realizing that I have the coolest ring tone on his phone: (captain Jack Sparrow….When he sings “I got a jar of dirt) and email notification: (why is the rum always gone) I love captain Jack.. :D
Not having the shakes so I can draw and paint…
Our sorrows and wounds are healed only when we touch them with compassion.

Me too, i don't recall having a good day, ever. Theres always something to completely mess it up.
i have good moments, like when i look at my pets and see they are happy, it makes me warm inside. but that vanishes as soon as it came up..
