A lot of this listed seems to be dramatic or sad or somber, but often I feel excited and full and euphoric.
I really enjoy Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover). I really have come to associate my struggles with his music. Listen to the words in
Not Going Back (or read em in the description). The beat and his skills lift me up. Also, I really identify with
FLCL. It's real existential, as BPD often is. In addition, its a coming of age story and I always feel like I'm coming of age. The trailer doesn't showcase the quiet moments well, but you can watch it free on Funimation's youtube account. I really like songs that sound reckless or full of abandon (can you be full of abandon?) like
Get Away by Yuck or
Arcade Blues by Neon Indian (let's dance).
I also like more somber things too, I guess. I don't know why I would want to consume media that feeds my bad mood, but I do like everyone else.
I really liked Black Swan. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is great too. I was going to put it with the "fun" list, but the ending is always a bummer. I love the messages, though. I can really identify with the main character having a powerful force inside that they can't control. Plus, I've been watching
Enlightened on HBO. I mentioned it in a thread I started a day ago. Though it doesn't specifically mention BPD, you will swear you are watching a show starring a person with BPD. It really catches me cuz I can relate to it so well, the way she splits life. Its not really a sad show but it could trigger, maybe. It doesn't for me. You can probably find it online somewhere if you don't have HBO.
Strange how all the sad examples are female characters. Perhaps audiences don't want to watch a male being vulnerable or weak.
Nobody can give you freedom. Nobody can give you equality or justice or anything. If you're a man, you take it. -Malcolm X
I made my bed, I'll lie in it. I made my bed, I'll die in it. -Hole
I’m so tired of pretending my life isn’t perfect and bitchin’. -Charlie Sheen
