I'm getting better?

Postby DoobieDoom » Wed Apr 27, 2011 10:37 pm

I have been working on ignoring me triggers. Instead of straight raging right away I stayed cool for a good 5 minutes or so longer before going into out of control mode. :D I kept telling my self I'm overreacting and it will be best to just stay calm in the long run, I just kept thinking about the outcomes of past rage fests. So it kind of worked :) I calmed down faster.

I feel like I'm working out my brain! I feel accomplished like after lifting weights :)
I suppose any of my theories cannot be counted as creditable however. I am a 17 year old, a senior in highschool. BUT Psychology is my passion! So I am looking for the general opinion and professional advice to aid it, and I hope for comments to disregard my age and creditably.

That's fantastic, keep it up :)

I've found that since I am more aware of my moods and emotions I'm able to control them much more and talk myself into a rational state of mind. For more I read the book Sometimes I act crazy?, which has some amazing tools that I use on a daily basis.

I think for me the best thing I have done is to take 1 day at time and stop worrying about the future and what if's, but's and maybe's. Of course there are still bad days, but everyone has them.

My only concern is that sometimes I repress these moods :( I'm working on that and if I do repress them I allow them to come out in therapy so to be in a controlled environment, if you like.

hehe thanks everyone :)

I was just thinking about that, if I try to only hold back my emotions it is probably not healthy. I need a way to let them out, personally I love a good hard punch at the wall haha. My therapist says I need a punching bag... My middle finger is always bruised from punching the wall D: Not to mention all the holes in the wall.

Funny how you turned repressed mood into anger...

I only say this as anger comes up a lot for me but isn't necessarily the mood I am repressing. If I really dig deep anger is actually covering up sadness, disappointment, embarrassment and even shame. If I was feeling anger then yes a boxing bag is a great idea, I love boxing and find it a great release for my anger. I do however love to run or cycle, the sense of freedom lifts my mood for the day.

Anger seems to be a very common mood BPD'ers feel, I believe it's something to do with the B&W thinking. But I bet if you dig a little deeper it's not always anger you're feeling. Hope I make sense :) I've been known to ramble...

Everything I do results in anger D:

Showing emotions results in anger, being angry results in anger, being a pansy results in anger. (the BPD life)
