I know what forum this is. This thread is about antipsychotics. It's literally the title of the thread. Prozac, being an antidepressant, does not belong in this thread. Make another thread about antidepressants and I'd be happy to answer your question.

Some seem incapable, but for the most part I imagine so. I have to confess to enjoying the emotional content people apply to conversations in arguments.

It is wise to examine the motives of the players before embarking on a silent accusation intended to portray hypocrisy.

Two graves have been dug. A third? Not so.

An upper hand comes from regalement.

The mistake herein lies within a faulty assumption.

When one is completely secure there is rarely a need to defend.

If someone feels the need to insult, degrade or control you in any manner it says more about them than it does about you. That is the first grave.

Responding to it in a defensive manner adds power to the initial statement. That is the second.

lol I think I get it, though I can't be sure. It sounds a bit like a riddle to me - perhaps me being blonde.

If I was secure, I wouldn't be on here. (and probably wouldn't have BPD!)

Lol. I believe it's always possible to reach a cognitive level of security even within the more extreme cases.

I have BPD and they totally tried to put my on antipsychotics.
I had nightmares, though.
Typical side effects include nightmares...
But I couldn't take it and I stopped.

That's about all I have.

I'm currently between pdocs, but I found that the combination of Seroquel and Prozac worked well for me before I moved and got a new doc that started messing with my meds. I never went above 25 mg of Seroquel because it's very sedating. It's a great alternative to Ambien as a sleep aid (Ambien aggravates my depression and irritability). I tried to stop taking Seroquel at one point because it gives me munchies, but I noticed that intrusive thoughts and angry outbursts came back. Right now I feel terrible because my last doctor was convinced I'm bipolar and put me on Lamictal. I had an allergic reaction and I haven't felt right since. He also took me off of Adderall (I also have ADD), so I'm going through withdrawal. My brain is not happy.

There's a good website that allows people to rate medications depending on what their diagnosis is. It's important to take individual stories about meds with a grain of salt because everybody is so different. It always trips me out when people say things like "This drug should be banned!" just because they had severe side effects. Here's the page about Prozac and BPD: http://www.revolutionhealth.com/drugs-t ... y-disorder.

For some BPD patients, mood stabilizers like Lithium or Lamictal help, but there has been more clinical evidence that support the use antipsychotics for BPD. Antipsychotics like Seroquel can cause weight gain, high blood sugar, high cholesterol and other problems, but this is less likely in low doses.

Good luck everyone. Finding the right meds is so difficult, but it's well worth the effort.
Dx: Bipolar II, ADHD
Rx: Abilify 5mg, Wellbutrin SR 100mg, Vyvanse 60mg, Seroquel 125mg, Ativan, 2mg 2x/day
