PMDD and BPD

Postby SandraS » Wed May 19, 2010 4:20 am

So BPD and PMDD are really similar, have you noticed? My question is, how do you know if its PMDD or BPD and can you have both? Its kind of funny, its like - ya, I get really cranky and stuff except the week after my period. Thats when I just have my personality disorder. :o

My doctors and people don't seem to want to diagnosis me with PMDD, is because I have other psychiatric dxs? The qualifier in the DSM for PMDD is confusing: The disturbance is not merely an exacerbation of another disorder...although it may be superimposed on any of these (another disorder).

I just came across this thread. I know it's been a while since you've posted this, but I was wondering if you have made any progress in figuring out what's going on?

I have borderline, or at least I'm pretty sure I do. I definitely know I have PMDD, as every time I've been inpatient due to psych issues, I've gotten my period in the hospital and I'd really like to figure out whether my lack of progress is due to my stubborness and borderline, or whether it's really just a cycle due to PMDD.

Thanks!

Well, I... wait.

Nevermind.

Well - I get 3 monthly doses of the Pill so that I don't have the additional stress of PMT (maybe not the same as PMDD) which might just completely flip me over the edge.....I don't particularly enjoy messing my hormones around for so long but if it takes away one worry then I'm all for it! I would suggest that for any of you who feel they get a LOT worse at that time of the month, speak to you Dr about something similar (and that's women only Apocallcaps  ) I don't want to stay on the pill for more than another year like this, then I want to drop it to monthly and see how things go. there are potential health risks with long-term pill use, but I'm weighing up the options and PMT free for a few years while I keep on with the therapy sounds like a pretty good idea to me.
