Controlling, argumentative, needs attention, but fragile?

Postby tetwothree » Sun Mar 26, 2023 7:27 pm

I have an acquaintance who is extremely hard to figure out.
She can be controlling, argumentative, is a huge right fighter, and must be the center of attention, but she is extremely fragile. Seems to have a poor sense of self.
She has had anorexia and is depressed and on antidepressants.

At times, she will state something rather nasty or controlling, snide remark etc, but if I confront her, she will say I hurt her.

But if you say something out of line, she will confront you and expect you to accept it.

Occasionally, if in a situation not to her liking she will start rage yelling.

When in normal conversation that is going well, she will often start talking about her childhood a lot like too much with some blaming. I am beginning to think the last time she was truly happy was when she was a child.

She has never told me she has abandonment fears, but I think it is possible.

Does this person fit BPD, or is she something else, or a mix of BPD and some other personality disorder.

It looks more like narcissism.
Anyway, it does not matter.
Try to do the same thing, and if she says something hurtful, say the same thing she does when the shoe is opposite. If she does not stop, then you know to go no contact.
