Anyone here with insight into the differences between the two, esp. when it comes to obsessing over a person?

Hey, I think this is two very different things. I have experience with OCD myself and know a few people with BPD. If you habe OCD you often times try to avoid (imagined) harm, danger, death by doing certain rituals (repetitive behaviors). But this never calms your ruminations long so you have to do it over and over again.
I think in BPD you get kind of overly obsessed with a person and see them in the brightest light possible. This aims at a positive outcome (friendship or rather relationship) while with OCD you try to prevent a negative outcome.
