Why is it we can be "horny" but not "antlery?"

Antlers are temporary, horns are permanent. Oh, wait. Sorry for derailing. I'll shut up now.

Can someone with borderline PD have alters? Depends what you mean by "alters", but usually not.

Everyone has ego states. Ego states are capable of talking to you (presenting as voices in your head) and influencing you in various other ways. Alters are elaborated ego states, sometimes highly elaborated. If you have alters who take control of the body repeatedly, that's a major dissociative disorder. If there is also amnesia at least some of the time, that's one specific major dissociative disorder: DID.

Many people with DID are misdiagnosed with borderline PD. Correct diagnosis and treatment for DID then soon resolves all the BPD-like symptoms. Some people with DID have no symptoms suggestive of BPD; I am one of those. It does appear that some people have both BPD and a major dissociative disorder, but that is not nearly as common as DID misdiagnosed as BPD.

this is about the only post on here I am able to relate to.

Reading everyone's stuff is making me feel like screaming how can people actually post in such depth - personally I prefer superficiality. What is this with all this opening up stuff to me it is like jumping off a tall building and I dont do tall buildings.

Also annoying this forum wont let me use safe-mail to register why not as it is what I use

sorry this forum is damaging my psyche (not a word I normally use) and not letting me register using safe-mail is annoying the heck out of me. And my user name wasn't allowable so this board is eating up my identity and I think that Starvin_Marvin is right we cant have antlers and we can't be who we want as everything tries to regulate us. Maybe I would be better on a hunting forum - and I dont even hunt- as ft we cant do as we want then what can we do?

If I want to be someone else what is wrong with that if it satisfies me? Yes you can have alters nothing wrong with that if they let you be who you want to be, heck even having antlers would be fun

Hi Parnell,
I am one of the moderators here

Mod message

Sorry to see that your first encounter of this site / forum has been a negative one
(not our intention to trigger anyone here)

Regarding this
my user name wasn't allowable so this board is eating up my identity

Sorry you feel that way.
but its more to do with a "family friendly environment" rather than a direct personal attack on you.
Correct some username are not allowed ..like weapons, self harm wordings, serial killers etc...
We have a policy we have to follow (fact)
it really isnt anything personal

Regarding the email problem please PM an admin
lilyfairy-u66727/ or any other red admin

Please stay on topic of this thread
thank you

Erato wrote:Great question! The closest idea of alters in my opinion are different modes that are described in schema therapy. I have noticed that I behave differently in different situations with different persons. Turning into another person may be a coping skill of an unstable self (we have no idea who we are and we feel that we could be anybody) to ensure we don't get abandoned or abused (if I am like them, they will not abandon me and mistreat me) or only parts of our personality that function separately. It's really complicated and I am not sure that I can expalin my opinion well, so here's the link where you can find out more about modes:

Thanks Erato. Are you greek? - Erato is a greek name If so I guess we have the same therapist. There are only 100 cases of multiple personalities n the US. Borderline is the word according to schema therapy :D

According to who?

Most estimates now are 1-2% of the entire US population, similar to prevalence in many other countries. So millions of people.

Like una+ said, for someone with bpd they're most likely ego states. I have 3 very distinct splits, each have a different version of my real name. One is about 6-7, one is 16 and me at 32. They each have their own likes dislikes and behaviours but they're still me.

Una+ I've read your thread about the girl in love, it was amazing.
