Books you recommend/like?

Postby Katy9591 » Sat Feb 06, 2016 8:53 pm

It doesn't necessarily have to do with BPD. Although I love anything neuroscience/psychology :)

These are some I have read recently that I liked:

Myth of Sanity - Martha Stout. This one explores dissociation and what it means to be sane...
Any book by Oliver Sacks
Get me out of here: The author talks about her BPD and it largely consists of dialogues, which some didn't like, but I didn't mind it and really liked her honesty.

You can also post links to any interesting studies.

I don't either lol since I am only beginning to learn it. Hopefully I can continue because I really like it. It helps me deal with my awful shame...because I realize that we all have similar brains (that is, I'm not a "freak"), theirs just isn't sick so they don't always understand...healthy mind is a blessing. I am also able to understand things outside of pure introspection which almost always ends in me feeling awful and ashamed. Anyways, if you're really interested and motivated you could just pick up a textbook and read it. Look up lectures and materials online...don't necessarily need to spend thousands of dollars on college just to learn something.

Youre very right...and if those books help you learn something and maybe get better i think they are def worth a shot. I also think no one is a freak...for me i am convinced i wouldnt have the patience to read them, so congrats for doing it. I always admire people who take steps to getting healthier.

Maybe someone else has some other cool book suggestions that are not fashion magazines lol

I have never looked at a fashion magazine, so I'm curious: what do you like about these magazines?

Ultraviolet was an interesting read, had to do a project on a book in HS... so I went with this one. there's a lot of open questions left unanswered, little to no closure. kinda annoyed me tbh, but it's still a good book nonetheless. if you're interested in paranormal/psychology themed stories, then it might be worth checking out (the main character has synesthesia) :D I also liked Girl, interrupted.
