Someone giving a speech about recovering

Postby Atataxia » Tue Dec 29, 2015 5:51 am

This showed up on a forum for people who are related to or intimately involved with people suffering from Borderline. Though I can't say whether people will find this helpful, it was for me. It's also pretty long. There's some really insightful stuff at the end.

Does anybody know anybody who's recovered? Or met anyone? I've never met anyone else who's been able to manage it well. And even older people who seem to have learned to live with it seem to only handle it with age.

There were a number of people who after therapy where classed as recovered on a different site. They said that they still had a few ticks but all in all their lives where so much better. They still had some urges but where able to control them. DBT seems to be the one most effective.

Ive also read that some pwBPD improve without treatment post menopause. Theres been a few things that ive read that make me believe that hormones play a part in BPD so the menopause thing kind of makes sense.
