Actually they're pretty much the same people. lol They receive either diagnosis more based on sex or sexual preference because of the subtle bias BPD has on doctors as being hyperfeminine.

A true male has no remorse!

Guilt is for ladies!

Indeed feelings are for ladies!

Edit:
Is there a expression for a 'true male' in english?

Here we say 'macho que é macho'(like 'a man that is a man' feel no remorse)

Please twiested help me.

Or machismo is an extremely brazilian phenomena. I know it related to latin cultures.

Edit2:
Now more seriously I think this kind of 'machismo' may be more related to compensatory narcissism, and specially sadistic PD.

Bahaha!!! Feelings are for the ladies. What a sad social concept.

We call them "a man's man". Or "manly men". It's the same concept. We don't have the same forms of machismo. I think masculinity is performed in different ways in different cultures.

Oh and don't make me lose my $#%^ on you, TN!!!!! BPD's and ASPD's have very little in common. That's ridiculous!

AD, you don't honestly believe that women's emotions and male machismo are mere social constructs do you?

did you know when they boost women's testosterone they act more like men?

there are innate biological reasons as to why men and women are different, overall.

like psychological/emotional differences.

that no amount of ideology or media image construction can change.

-- Fri Dec 05, 2014 8:55 pm --

society's current attempt to do so is indicative of social insanity

problem is everyone thinks morality is relative, so how can they tell? or they just don't care, especially those who didn't fit in previously and find making models out of freaks refreshing

it is actually very invaliding for the vast majority of men and women to think they are not psychologically/emotionally different.

it is not right either to not recognize those who naturally deviate from the norm, but that doesn't justify flipping the invalidation to the majority and privileging the minority.

solution is give majority priority, then accommodate those who naturally deviate.

simple really...but minorities have been running society since the rise of civilization and the official conquering of humanity

yahh!

A manly man says no to machismo!

Boys are tought since as children to be the best on whatever they do.

Of course being good is good, but when you need to be a high performer on whatever you do you are being enslaved.

How, to be the best student is to be enslaved by teacher, to be the best employee is to be enslaved by boss, to be the best boy you must ###$ more girls your peers ...

Not all performance is related to masculinity, but many are. I dont think femine roles are marked by such competitivity

Of course no one can be that good, and the roles are contradictory.

To be the best boyfriend you need to be faithful.
To be the best friend you need to unfaithful(top performer)

I do think that machismo and narcissism are greatly related.

SamVaknin tries to make a link between conservatism and narcissism. Maybe that is the only true contribution he made to psychology. Of course we should distinguish NPD from narcissism.

I think this is because that at psychoanalytical theory, the ego ideal represents the father, and at narcissistic PD, the ego and the ego ideal are very close, as if the narcissist became his ego ideal. But we must pay attention to not confuse avoidant/compulsive harsh ego ideals, with narcissism, although an obsessive compulsive narcissist is a very likely combination.

So a mainly man, follows his own rules and says no to machismo.

narcissism isn't really machismo though

real men don't care what other people think about them

i mean they are not like neurotically concerned with it; narcissists are

I see masculinity as a broad range of characteristics

it is simply men acting in accordance with who they are and what they are naturally interested in

and likewise with women.

most men and women, when they are not being fake, will fall within this range

a few people however fall considerably outside of this range.

any society that caters (versus accommodates) these^ people is illegitimate, as how can you possibly justify privileging the minority over the majority?

unless you are a minority yourself and benefit from it...with little concern for others' well-being

can anyone argue this?

then you will change what you think, right?

Is machismo and masculinity the same?

I dont think so, the own suffix ismo(ism) denotes some kind of fixed idea.

isn't machismo exaggerated masculinity?

wait no it's just masculine pride.

there's probably an inherent insecurity in machismo then or something...because why would a real man be concerned with male pride?

frankly, I having trouble finding a consistent definition for this word :?

I wish I were Mexican so I knew it... and a Mexican man for that matter

machismo

a strong or exaggerated sense of manliness; an assumptive attitude that virility, courage, strength, and entitlement to dominate are attributes or concomitants of masculinity.

those are, more or less, attributes of men when they are being authentic are they not though?

and note, strength can also mean things like intelligence and other ability; it coincides with effectiveness, ability to get things done, etc related to men's core need for achievement and to be needed

these are things women cannot relate to, not like men, in terms of vast majority

What if someone says they are weak?

Teenagers are highly narcissistic, as most people mature they develop a more stable self.

However some people never mature, and are constantly needing to prove their masculinity, strengh or whatever.

Ya that's what I am saying is not secure masculinity.

But that's different from enjoying masculine pursuits.

Like there are people who do guy stuff because they are trying to project an image. They are the type that take lots of picture and post them on Facebook, lol

Then there are the type that genuinely enjoy those activities...because they like the challenge, risk involved, skill, strength, etc..

Real men won't care I don't think, why would they?

Narcissists aren't real men.

The only women who are attracted to them are fake women who are insecure themselves, or who project an image of exaggerated femininity but lack what is really female, such as the undistorted ability to give and receive love, among other things...
