Hi Bluelilly,
i love your post. i try small things. my apple early in the mornings with a warm glass of water.
magnesium and calcium,if i am nervous, it calms me down.
i start my day with prayer, also complex vitamin B. tea through the day. As i walk i try as my psych says, to see, to smell, to feel, to hear, to ground myself (by nature my mind moves in every direction and theme constantly, so this exercise helps me a lot, it calms me down..
i try to give myself more than enough time to do my things, and not too write more than a couple of activities per day.
i try to get out of myself and listen to somebody 2-3 times a week(i also realise that some people are so overloaded with energy that they drain me out pretty fast, or is it that i am going through a low period?)
i try to balance our meals, a good and pretty combination of colors!! green, red, etc.
i am trying to end my day with comedy centraal something like seinfield or the 70'S...nice jokes.
prayer and thankfulness at the end of the day
melatonin at night, it helps me a lot.

regarding yours, chamomille gives me stomach ache, i have heard about spiruline, what is this good for? vitamin D helped me giving me more energy , but an overdose brought me back to base 1...so i am for now taking it easy until it goes uit of my system. :)

All that sounds really healthy.

I find that when my life feels balanced and I'm taking care of myself (by eating whole foods, taking my vitamins, avoiding sugar, exercising, drinking water and green tea, talking with friends, going for walks, reading a good book, being in nature, getting enough sleep, etc.), I feel like I'm accomplishing something. This helps with the boredom I often feel and gives me a sense of control over myself.

Some daily rituals I have are:
-Twice a day I have an alarm that goes off on my phone to remind me to check my breathing. I make sure I'm breathing deeply and not shallowly.
-In the evening, right before bed, I lay down and practice progressive muscle relaxation which feels really good and makes me sleepy.

Thank you both for your replies! It feels good to know that we can help our mood and our psyche with the way we eat, live and think and that we are not alone at trying this approach. Others do it too and it helps
:D
Loise: I like your post as well. Grounding is so important. I agree with you and also do it daily on meditation and walking. Praying is a great help too.
Love your apple in the morning i will try it. Calcium and magnesium I have done it at night and also is great for sleeping.
I hear you on the energy draining wit some people. I have come to the conclusion that I'm too emphatic and will absorb like a sponge anything that some people send my way. Some are energy vampires and after a while i just keep away when I'm feeling low.

I use Spiruline to give me more energy in the morning as well as maka. I used to be hooked on coffee and when i quit I replace it with spiruline. Works well.
I imagine overdoses might be too much of a stimulant but i keep it low.

Whipped cream: yes, avoid sugar for sure. i can totally feel a shift of mood when i indulge on sweets. Makes every other healthy choice harder to take...like "I've already failed so why bother" kind of mentality sets in and is hard to get out of it.
Great idea on the alarms to check on your breathing. I get the shallow breath too when I'm anxious.

Awesome! I'm loving all your tips
Keep them coming :)

Hi Bluelilly,

Meditation and exercise have helped me tons. I acquired a Zen
teacher 2 years ago who works with people in Zen and sports, the most helpful thing I have ever found.
Overall, good diet ( not always ) less alcohol, fresh foods....
I do better. Drinks tons of water.

Good thread. Love the Niel Gaiman quote btw.....
consciousness started to flash,

here, it seems, flooding in play

even the corners of mind

where it’s always bright as day.

[quote="Bluelilly"] Hi!, although my energy level gets easily drain out, i have to watch out for stimulants, actually i am talking about coffee, tea, sweets etc..i get these natural highs! that i
celebrated as young and now i realize that they come with a facture...days afterwards i can barely think, so balance is important to me.

i tried yoga, and i had an excellent teacher, but everytime i tried to do more and more, and before i knew i hurt myself, i have a hard time playing it easy.
anxiety is a big deal in my life, it has always been. Now that i am in my 50's there are things in my nervous system that i realized is the damage of so many years..
anyway, i know that at some point i will have to turn off the tv, the computer, the telephone,
and start working on one only line at a time...the one i am living in...but i am still not there,
i love being connected, yet it comes with a price....
balance, balance, balance!! and working on it!! have a look at rudy wax on internet, she discovered she had some issues and has studied neurology and explains wonderfully how our brain works and what we need to do to keep it healthy!

Thank you everybody! All this tips and info is fantastic!
:D
I think the more we nourish and honor our bodies with healthy foods and plants, the better we feel emotionally and mentally and it also makes us feel hopeful about our situation.

Loise: i heard about omega oil to be good for the brain...didn't make the connection with Altzheimers.
My mom has it so I have to watch out for it too.

Littlearcher: Water with chlorophyll sounds good. i've tried with "greens mix" i think it has other stuff too like Kale and spinach...is not the tastiest, but makes me feel good.
Ditto on caffeine but I try sometimes some natural herbs/drugs on a very small amount.

Outlier: Ha ha. Thanks I love Neil Gaiman's "Sandman"
Zen Yoga is great i'm convinced that without it i could have not quit my meds as I did a year ago.

Keep it up!

Tea tea tea tea tea lots of tea! Caffeine free, as I'm overly sensitive to just about everything, for example earlier this evening my brother gave me some candy he had gotten for halloween but didn't like and now I'm still singing tea tea tea and I'm even telling you about it although it's completely irrelevant and I'll stop talking now.

I like the one with blueberry taste, by the way. Oh dear I love blueberries, blueberries relax me as well, but that's probably mainly because I pick them myself and being out in the woods really calms me down.

Conclusion: Tea, blueberries and nature
