However, I was recently accepted into my college's Honors Program. I've done well in difficult courses such as Psych.
I suppose this would imply that my IQ is not below average or anything.

Over here we don't have intelligence tests in school. Not in childhood or otherwise. They are called suitability tests or entrance exams. In principle, everyone has the same opportunities. It's not about the general superiority, but compatibility. Psychiatrists don't conduct IQ tests either.
There is only one official and therefore comparative place to take the test - if you wish to do so. Mensa.

I definitely have either average or above average IQ. I score pretty high in standard exams, I retain a lot of information....never had the guts to take a real IQ test in case I get a low score, lol. I remember so much meaningless garbage that I learned in 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade....also I'm a bit of a naturalist, I remember so many things about scientific names, bones, feeding habits of various animals etc...I consider it more of a talent than having high IQ though. It's "my thing" yano?

I, too, have always been considered intelligent (I'd say so, anyway--and I've been told this (in addition to the fact that I have a B.A. from one of the most difficult colleges to be accepted into within my state/country of residence). That being said, my scholastic abilities and my emotional intelligence have always vastly differed, and that doesn't go without saying that my emotionality hasn't encumbered my academic endeavors. It has also prompted me to think and behave obsessively, which has really taken a toll on my emotional well-being.

My IQ test result was 148 and I have always been intellectually very capable and over-achieving in education. However i am 32, and my EQ development has arrested somewhere in the teenage years and that has always been a great impediment in my life and often counteracts my high intelligence.

I was only tested at the same time that I was first diagnosed as BPD at 16. I'm now 43. They tested me twice since they doubted the first results. Numbers I don't remember but the summary went something like this:

"Very high superior intelligence, borderline genius but lacking knowledge."

They also went on to say that it was likely that my true IQ was even higher due to the stresses and circumstances that I was currently going through... through the court systems, being removed from my family, juvenile hall, becoming a ward of the court and put in a group home, etc, etc.

My life has continued on that roller coaster ever since then and I never accomplished anything with that potential, some my fault, some the systems fault... but mostly due to the fact that my BPD has gone neglected by those who were in a position to treat it, but didn't, choosing instead to focus exclusively on treating one symptom of it or another. I'll stop ranting now.

From the little I've read about BPD, most BPD's have very high IQ's. I highly recommend treating the BPD as soon as you can so it won't interfere with you realizing most of your vast potential. From my own personal experience, it will most definitely stop you from realizing any of your potential if neglected for too long.

I don't have a proper diagnosis of BPD, but I do have most of the symptoms, so thought I might answer this.

I had a WISC-III test done at 11 or 12, and I scored 156, which does qualify as very gifted. However, since then I've been seriously unmotivated because well, school work got harder and I was used to not have to make much of an effort at all. I still cling to the results a lot, I think, because they used to be my only source of self-esteem. It also used to be the only thing that defined me, once - I remember being bullied for being a 'nerd' when really I was just clever. Sometimes I wonder if the results changed since then.
