mine was tested when i was 15... scored 135. Mom and sisters both pretty smart too. My oldest sister is actually a registered genius. and yes, all of them (I suspect) to be bpd....
but strangely , all personality disorders tend to have lower average iqs than the general population...Not sure I believe that for a second. I have never met anyone without a personality disorder that I thought to be brilliant.

I just came from a forum where BPDs were talking about BPD women being more good looking than the average and now I've come to this forum and I have to laugh. People, if it makes you feel any better then go on believing that you have higher IQs, however, I've been suffering with this illness for the last 25 years and I'm a reader. I've never read anything scientific that says borderlines are any more intelligent than the rest of the population. More empathic on some levels perhaps, more sensitive perhaps, but I've not come across anything other than anecdotal evidence that points to BPDs being of above average intelligence.

I got tested as a child along with getting tested for aspergers. I don't know the exact nuber but it's around 125-130. So i suppose a bit above average. I never fitted in with the other kids because all they wanted to do was play games and i wanted to learn and discuss things (like science, philosophy etc) and they didn't get that, they thought i was weird lol. I was also mature for my age (except for emotionally) and by the time i was about 8 i had grown out of the things little kids liked to do and i wanted to do adult stuff - i didn't liek playing with toys, running around like an idiot etc because it bored me.

I was tested when I was a teen and was told it was above average though they didn't give me the actual score. My SAT and GRE scores were high though and correlate to about 135 iq. My mom said she took an IQ test when she was younger and scored 140 which was the highest possible score on that test.

I've always felt much smarter than most people around me. At the same time they all seemed to have a much higher EQ. My last boyfriend told me that I am like a genius but at the same time I act like I'm retarded. :? He said I didn't seem to understand simple things that most people just accepted and took for granted. I'm sure he was referring to EQ.

I do think there must be an inverse correlation between IQ and EQ. I have often thought I would be happier if I wasn't as smart. My mind is constantly observing and analyzing every detail, and it stops me from being able to just relax and enjoy the moment. I overthink, sometimes it feels like my mind is like a revving motor, its just going and going and doesn't stop. Sometimes I wish I could turn it off and just relax. Meditation never worked for me. I get too restless.

Have you taken an IQ test? Will you share the score?

I don't have BPD but people I've met who do appear to have varying IQs.

High IQ low EQ isn't about BPD, lol. Its about "being in your head all the time instead of in your feelings". I.e. off to one extreme of thinking/feeling. People like that tend to pay little attention to developing their EQ unless something gives them good reason.

EQ": Developmentally disabled, for life, little or no social bearing or understanding of anything.

IQ: 123

I have a very high IQ (178). That was a long time ago though. I'm pretty sure a few brain cells have died since then. I've never lived up to my potential, and I don't see that changing.

I'm not so sure it means anything positive, having a high IQ. If anything, it's depressing. I can already tell you my EQ will be very low. I'll do the test in a minute.

So I just tried taking an EQ test online, and I had to give up because I didn't know the answers. I don't know if I adjust my behaviour for different people. Also what they might call empathy, I would call paranoia :) .

Don't quote me but I've heard (and am not surprised) that online tests aren't the most accurate measure of intelligence.

I've never been IQ tested, but I've heard throughout my life from teachers and such about how bright and perceptive I am and that I seem to excel anything I try to do. It's funny because even though I enjoy what I do for a career and am good at it (so I'm told), I think I have achieved far less than I would have if my personal crap (ie. low EQ) didn't get in the way.
